The use of SX to determine stability constants is widely used. Sadly, during later years this activity has declined and thus the working knowledge is disappearing rather quickly. There are several potential pifalls that can be encountered as well as limitation that must be considered. Examples of such features is whether the complex to determine actual exist under the selected premises and whether slope analysis gives what we expect and why.
In this lecture we will reencounter determinations of e.g. thorium acetylacetonate complexation done in the 60ies and repeated in the 90ies to see what was changed and why.
